Say Goodbye To: Greg Reynolds

Again. Greg Reynolds’ next start has been moved back a day, to Sunday at Detroit, according to the Denver Post. The Rockies will take advantage of Thursday’s off day to give Reynolds an extra day of rest. Colorado is gathering several veteran starting pitchers in Triple-A and Reynolds has only a tenuous hold on a major league rotation spot. (Rotowire)

Reynolds Gives Up Three to Mets

Rockies SP Greg Reynolds allowed six hits and three runs in seven innings during a 3-1 loss Sunday against the Mets. The decisive runs came on a two-run homer by Carlos Beltran in the third. Reynolds (2-5) allowed one walk and struck out two. Reynolds is 2-4 in his last six starts. He has allowed fewer than three runs in only his two wins. The former No. 2 pick in the first-year player draft has just been too inconsistent in 2008. He remains just a NL-only Fantasy SP at this point in his career. His next scheduled start is for Saturday against the Tigers. It’s on the road where Reynolds is 0-3 with a 7.71 ERA this season. (CBS Sports)

Say Goodbye To: Acosta, Brocail, Reynolds

Manny Acosta was torched in multiple recent outings, and tied with the upcoming return of Mike Gonzalez, makes Acosta a candidate to be cut from the Roadrunners. Acosta pitched in Wednesday’s loss to the Florida Marlins and gave up four hits and four runs on two homers in 1/3 of an inning picking up a blown save and a loss. Acosta’s inexperience makes him less likely to remain a closer over the long haul, so he might need an injury to Soriano and a failure to return by Gonzalez for him to be a full-time closer. As a reliever, Acosta has enough potential to be useful in any league that uses true middle men, though. (CBS Sports)

Doug Brocail never pitched for the Roadrunners, having been picked up just last week. While hardly a fair shake, he became a victim of a roster crunch with new acquisitions. Brocail looks like the fallback option for Jose Valverde, but Houston won’t use him to close games very often. Leave him for deeper NL-only leagues that require the use of true middle men. (CBS Sports)

Greg Reynolds began to show his inexperience by getting shelled in recent outings. If Reynolds couldn’t bring his A-game for his start against the Giants with personal ties, he probably won’t be able to on a regular night. The former No. 2 pick in the first-year player draft has just been too inconsistent in 2008. Colorado will probably look for starts elsewhere in the coming weeks making Reynolds only a viable option in keeper leagues and NL-only Fantasy formats. (CBS sports)

Reynolds Torched by Giants

Greg Reynolds was roughed up by the Giants on Thursday, giving up eight runs in 3 1/3 innings in a loss. Reynolds was 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three previous starts at Coors Field, but he allowed 12 of the 21 batters he faced to reach against him today. While he never embarrassed himself until today, the fact that he has as many homers allowed (nine) as strikeouts after seven starts suggests that he simply doesn’t belong in the majors. He went just 3 1/3 innings and gave up 10 hits and eight runs against a team he grew up idolizing. “This game was personal to me,” Reynolds said. “I looked forward to this one for a long time. I’m disappointed with myself.” (Rotoworld, CBS Sports)

Reynolds Earns First Victory

Greg Reynolds recorded his first major league victory after allowing two runs in six innings versus the Brewers on Saturday. Reynolds didn’t have a strikeout in the game. He hasn’t embarrassed himself in six starts to date, but his 9/20 K/BB ratio in 34 1/3 innings suggests that he isn’t up to stay. (Rotoworld)

Meet the New Guys: Bergmann, Reynolds, Miles

Jason Bergmann: Playing for the lowly Nationals has been rough on young Bergmann, who has at times pitched better than his record suggests. Bergmann went three straight starts from May 15 to May 26 without giving up a run, but has since let nine men score in his last two outings. He looked like a must-add in all Fantasy formats for a while, but has since come down to Earth. Continue to use Bergmann in NL-only formats and keep watch to see if he can bounce back. (CBS Sports)

Greg Reynolds: Reynolds, the second overall pick in the 2006 draft, had his sinker working, breaking four Brewer bats as he picked up his first win in six starts. He remains, however, only a stopgap option for the Rockies and should only be starting in NL-only Fantasy leagues. Reynolds next starts Friday at the Chicago White Sox. (CBS Sports)

Aaron Miles: Miles was coming off a nice series against Tampa Bay, and he is batting .458 (22-for-48) in interleague play the last two seasons and .349 (61-for-175) for his career. Manager Tony La Russa continues to rotate Adam Kennedy, Brendan Ryan and Miles at second and hit them in the No. 2 hole in front of Albert Pujols. However, it hurts their Fantasy value since none of them have an everyday role. All three players are just NL-only Fantasy options. (CBS Sports)
