Headley Slumping - .111 in Last Six Games

Padres OF Chase Headley went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Saturday against the Giants. He is now batting .111 (2-for-18) over his last six games. Headley is an elite young talent and definitely a sleeper in deeper Fantasy leagues. Like most young players, though, he’ll have his share of cold stretches. Reserve him until he heats up again. Headley Dropping the Ball of Late

Chase Headley went 0-for-4 and committed his fifth error Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. He’s made four errors in 31 games in the outfield. We were as in favor of Headley’s callup as anyone, but the Padres likely would have been better off with both Scott Hairston and Jody Gerut playing regularly for the last six weeks. There’s no reason to make a change now — Headley is still a far bigger piece in San Diego’s plans than either veteran — but he’s not playing very well at all at the moment. (Rotoworld)

Headley Tries To Rebound from Post-ASB Slump

Padres rookie OF Chase Headley, in a 4-for-28 (.143) slump since the All-Star break, went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI on Friday at Pittsburgh. The double was only his second extra-base hit of the second half. Headley is an elite young talent and definitely a sleeper in deeper Fantasy leagues. Like most young players, though, he’ll have his share of cold stretches. Hopefully, Friday’s performance is a sign of him heating up. (CBS Sports)

Headley’s Streak Snapped

Chase Headley had his seven-game hitting streak snapped Friday night in St. Louis. Headley was 10-for-26 in the streak and had hit safely in 17 of his previous 18 games before going 0-for-4. Headley is an elite young talent and is definitely a sleeper in deeper Fantasy leagues. Take a flyer on him if he’s available in your league. He’ll look to start another streak on Saturday. Headley Batting .333 in last 15 Games

The Sports Xchange notes that Chase Headley has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games (17-for-51). He was 2-for-4 Friday night against Atlanta with the first triple of his career. Headley is 7-for-16 with six RBI in his last four games. He is an elite young talent and is definitely a sleeper in deeper Fantasy leagues. Take a flyer on him if he’s available in your league. Headley Goes 3-for-5 With 4 RBI against Marlins

Chase Headley went 3-for-5 with four RBI as the Padres trounced the Marlins 10-1 on Tuesday night. The Padres loaded the bases against Andrew Miller with one out in the first. Headley, who played eight games with the Padres last season, cleared them with his double to the fence in left-center. It was his third double since his recall. Headley, who was recalled June 17, had his first multi-hit game since June 20 and has just three since returning from the minors. However, he has hit safely in 17 of 20 games. Headley is now hitting .266/.275/.494 with five homers and 11 RBI in 20 games. As expected, he’s been a good power threat with a high strikeout rate and little patience. He’s struck out 24 times and still hasn’t drawn a walk in the majors this year. (Rotoworld)

  • Stanimals acquired former AaRr 2B Aaron Miles for $0 FAAB.

Headley Homers Off Marlins, Extends Hit Streak

Chase Headley hit his fifth homer of the season during the Padres’ loss to the Marlins on Monday. Headley hit a towering homer to right field Monday against the Marlins on Ricky Nolasco’s first pitch of the fifth inning. Headley is only batting .243, thanks in no small part to a hideous 22:0 K:BB ratio. He’s got a nice future, but for now, San Diego’s home ballpark and his teammates limit his upside. Headley Continues Rookie Hit Streak

Padres 3B Chase Headley extended his hitting streak Friday night at Arizona to 10 games, which is the longest this season by a National League rookie. Headley (10-for-39) has exactly one hit in every game. Headley is an elite young talent and is definitely a sleeper in deeper Fantasy leagues. We’d like to see more multi-hit games from him, but that’s sure to come down the line. (CBS Sports)

Headley’s HR Not Enough to Defeat Rockies

Chase Headley went 1-for-3 with a solo homer as the Padres lost to the Rockies on Wednesday night. Headley is hitting .254 after his first 59 at-bats. He’s on an eight-game hitting streak, but has just two multi-hit games in fifteen contests so far this year. That being said, he’s already tallied four home runs in his first two and a half weeks in the majors. (Rotoworld)

Headley Enjoys Seven-Game Streak

Padres 3B Chase Headley extended his hit streak to seven games Tuesday when he went 1-for-3 in a 4-0 loss to the Rockies. While Headley’s streak is nice, he doesn’t have a multi-hit game during it and his average has stayed at .250. Consider him a sleeper in deeper leagues here on out, especially since the rebuilding Padres will give him a full-time opportunity to display his outstanding potential. (CBS Sports)

Headley Back in Outfield, Goes 1-for-4

Chase Headley went 1-for-4 in Sunday’s loss to the Mariners, the Padres’ official site reports. Headley has moved back to left since Kevin Kouzmanoff’s return and although it’s not his natural position (third base), he’s been handling himself well. “He hasn’t had a ton of chances,” manager Bud Black said. “But his angles and routes to the ball look fine.” At the plate, the switch-hitter is batting .250, but he’s 6-for-13 (.462) from the right side while just 5-for-31 (.161) from the left. Headley Dings Against a Lefty for First Time

The Sports Xchange notes that Chase Headley, batting right-handed, rocketed a line drive down the line and over the wall in left for both Padres runs Friday night. It was his first major league homer against a left-handed pitcher and his third in 40 at-bats and 10 games since joining the Padres from Triple-A Portland. With Kevin Kouzmanoff back, the third baseman has moved to left field to get his at-bats and will have flexible eligibility soon in all Fantasy leagues. The big time prospect is still too raw to expect huge numbers from him on a consistent basis, but he’s certainly worth activating in NL-only play and in larger mixed formats. (CBS Sports)

Headley Struggling a Bit

Padres rookie 3B Chase Headley went 1-for-4 with a double and a strikeout Thursday against the Twins. He’s batting only .125 (2-for-16) over his last four games. Like all rookie sluggers, you have to expect some struggles for Headley. He continues to start in third base with Kevin Kouzmanoff sidelined by a back injury and will move to left field afterward. He’s worth a flier in all leagues because of his potential. (CBS Sports)
