Roster Moves – Week 17 – July 27th, 2010
FAAB Acquisitions:
- 2B Luis Castillo, Mets ($2 bid) – Activate at MI
- RP Kenley Jansen, Dodgers ($2 bid) – Reserve
- OF Matt Diaz, Braves ($1 bid) – Activate at UT
Up:
- SS Troy Tulowitzki
- RP Joel Hanrahan
Down:
- RP Drew Storen
- OF Roger Bernadina (from UT)
- SS Cristian Guzman (from MI)
Cut:
- SS Jonathan Herrera
- RP Sam Demel
- SS Omar Infante
Notes:
- Tulowitzki will be activated from the DL (broken wrist) later today.
- Matt Diaz re-joins the 2010 Roadrunners. He had been released back on May 18th due to a terrible slump and subsequent thumb injury. He’s been raking (as usual) against lefties since his return at the All-Star Break. He’s the first player to re-join the 2010 squad that had previously been cut.
- Bidding on Diaz was light. I bid $2, and out-bid X-Men ($1). Get Off Kong! had a $3 conditional bid on Diaz, but he received his primary target of Pirates OF Delwyn Young.
- X-Men also bid $1 on Kenley Jansen, but I again out-bid him with my superior $2 bid.
- Luis Castillo has not been a favorite of the Roadrunner front office, but he was released by Cover Zero last week (when he picked up new Braves SS Alex Gonzalez). Castillo was drafted for $3, so his salary is assigned.
- It’s just a coincidence that all three players sent down this week were Nationals. No, really.
- The MLB non-waiver trade deadline is Saturday. Thus far, there hasn’t been much talk of major players coming to the NL. Cliff Lee was already traded (from Seattle to Texas), and Dan Haren was dumped on the Angels. Thus far the big movers to the NL have been the aforementioned Gonzalez (who went for $100), and former Angels’ SP Joe Saunders ($25 to Get Off Kong!) now on the Diamondbacks. Which is okay, since I only have $16 left.
