Gutierrez Locked Into Eighth-Inning Role

Gutierrez struck out one and walked one during a scoreless eighth inning against the Padres on Wednesday night. Manager A.J. Hinch still has some fluidity with the main parts in his bullpen, but Hinch has confirmed that Gutierrez will be his primary eighth-inning option to set up close Chad Qualls. In the event of a Qualls injury, Gutierrez is the most likely candidate to move to the ninth inning. (Rotowire)
