Lincecum Dominant Again Over Braves

Tim Lincecum improved to 13-3 Sunday by holding the Braves to one earned run over 7 2/3 innings. Lincecum fanned 10 while limiting the Braves to three hits. He lowered his ERA to 2.60 and got five of his strikeouts with runners in scoring position. He has a 1.88 ERA on the road, best in the major leagues, and will take on the Padres next. He has already racked up 192 strikeouts in 169.2 innings. (Rotoworld)

Hot Phillips Launches 20th Homer

Brandon Phillips finished 2-for-5 and knocked a three-run homer that secured a Reds victory over the Cardinals on Sunday. Jay Bruce got things going for the Reds when he drove in Chris Dickerson with a single in the first inning. The Reds would put up two more runs before Brandon Phillips hammered a ball that scooted over the left field wall and gave the squad a 6-0 lead. The Cardinals rallied for two runs in the ninth, but Francisco Cordero finally secured the win. Phillips is hitting .270 with 20 home runs and 73 RBI this season. (Rotoworld)

Headley Looking Better, Scores Padres’ Only Run

Padres 3B Chase Headley recorded the team’s only run during a 2-1 loss Sunday against the Phillies with a RBI single in the sixth off Cole Hamels. Headley, who finished 1-for-4, had hit safely in 11 of 12 games. He has two homers and six RBI in that span. Headley’s batting average has risen from .235 to .263 in his latest run and even has eight walks in that span. The rookie is getting a bit more selective at the plate and is starting to look like a major leaguer. However, Headley remains a low-end Fantasy option until his numbers really start to pop. Moss Injures Ankle – Helped Off the Field

Brandon Moss left Sunday’s game in the seventh inning with an ankle injury. Moss twisted his ankle on the way to first base on a ground out and had to be helped off the field. Steve Pearce replaced him. Jason Michaels will start in left field for Moss on Monday. The former Red Sox property has shown some signs of offense at times but was slumping like the entire Pirates team — batting .193 since coming over at the trade deadline. (Rotoworld)

Reyes’ Off-Day Leads to an Off Day

After Jose Reyes had one error Sunday, and nearly had a second and almost was picked off second base, manager Jerry Manuel said he would be off Monday, the NY Daily News’ Mets blog reports. Damion Easley, who subbed for David Wright at third base Sunday, should man shortstop in the series finale. Reyes, who has not had a true off-day since June 14, should be back in the lineup Tuesday against Atlanta. (Rotowire)

Wilson Secures 33rd Save – Leads NL

Giants closer Brian Wilson got his team out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth and then kept the Braves off the scoreboard in the ninth Sunday as he picked up his NL-leading 33rd save of the season in a 2-1 victory. Wilson has only two blown saves this season and has shown you can be an effective Fantasy closer, even if you’re on a bad team. He hasn’t allowed a run in 10 straight outings, so treat him as no worse than a No. 2 Fantasy RP. (CBS Sports)

Morton Still Winless at Home

Braves rookie SP Charlie Morton (3-7) remained winless in seven starts at Turner Field after giving up seven hits, three runs, two walks and six strikeouts over six innings in his first career appearance against the Giants. San Francisco won the game 3-1. Despite his record, Morton has pitched well in three of his last four starts and didn’t deserve to lose on Sunday. In Fantasy Week 21 (Aug. 18-24), Morton will get one start at St. Louis on Friday. In an outing against the Cardinals earlier this year, Morton gave up eight runs on seven hits over just 3 2/3 innings. If you must start Morton in the period, please let it be in a super-deep NL-only formats. (CBS Sports)
