Phillips Launches 19th Homer in Losing Effort
Brandon Phillips went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer as the Reds lost to the Cardinals on Saturday night. Andy Phillips had a pinch-hit solo shot to account for all three of Cincy’s runs. The homer was Brandon’s 19th of the season, giving him 70 RBI on the year. (Rotoworld)

Reyes Sets Mets Record for Leadoff Homers, Triples
Jose Reyes led off Saturday’s game with a home run to left field against Zach Duke (4-11) and added an RBI triple in the second. Reyes’ leadoff homer was the 12th of his career, extending his team record. His triple was his major league-leading 14th and the 66th of his career, also a club record. Reyes and Ramon Castro each finished with two hits and two RBI for the Mets, who have won five consecutive and nine of 12. Reyes has had a career year after his slow start. Consider him a must-start in all leagues, especially Rotisserie formats for his steals, down the stretch. (CBS Sports)

Pearce Tagged with "Disappointment" Label
Pirates RF Steve Pearce has been a disappointment since being called up on July 26 when Xavier Nady was sent to the New York Yankees as part of a six-player trade, hitting .208 with five RBI in 15 games. Most disappointing is that Pearce has yet to hit a home run in 116 major-league at bats over the past two seasons after going deep 34 times in the minor leagues in 2007. Pirates’ manager John Russell said he first wants Pearce to get untracked at the plate before worrying about hitting for power. Hitting for power? Pearce should try hitting period. Still, he’s starting every day for the struggling Pirates. Consider him a sleeper in deeper formats, especially NL-only and long-term keeper leagues. (CBS Sports)
