Wellemeyer Picks Up Ninth Win over Cubs
Todd Wellemeyer picked up his ninth win by holding the Cubs to three runs over 6 2/3 innings in a 12-3 victory on Saturday. Wellemeyer has strung together some nice starts lately. This was his third straight quality start, and he has a 3.00 ERA during that span. He seems to be settling in after struggling with elbow problems in June. (Rotoworld)

Myers Sharp Again - One Earned in 7-2/3
Brett Myers pitched the Phillies past the Pirates by allowing one run over 7 2/3 innings on Saturday. Myers struck out six and walked one in a third straight quality start. He’s lowered his ERA from 5.84 to 5.09 since returning from the minors last month. The feisty right-hander wasn’t pleased to leave with a runner on second and two outs in the eighth. Myers muttered a few expletives when Phillies manager Charlie Manuel went to the mound. Manuel went after Myers in the dugout and the two briefly exchanged words nose-to-nose. Both dismissed the incident after the game as a heat-of-the-battle moment. Myers has allowed less than three runs in each of his last four starts and is pitching well enough to be used in most NL-only leagues. His next scheduled start is Thursday at the Dodgers.(Rotoworld, CBS Sports)

Bowker Slumping Again, And Again
John Bowker went 0-for-4 and left six men on base during the Giants’ win Sunday. Over the last month, Bowker has just one multi-hit game, leaving him with an unacceptable sub-.300 on-base percentage. He’ll need to get it going if he doesn’t want to start losing at-bats. (Rotowire)

Iannetta Launches His 13th Against Padres
Rockies C Chris Iannetta broke a scoreless tie Saturday with a leadoff homer in the third inning of a loss to the Padres, his 13th. Iannetta has taken over as the Rockies’ regular catcher and has excellent power numbers for a player at the position. But as a young player, he’ll slump from time to time. Still, he should start in most mixed Fantasy leagues. (CBS Sports)

Wilson Finally Works a Non-Save Situation
Giants RP Brian Wilson, who had recorded a save in each of his last seven appearances, finally worked in a situation where he couldn’t Saturday against the Dodgers. He allowed one hit in one scoreless inning. Wilson has managed to keep opponents off the scoreboard in his last eight outings, allowing just five hits in that span. His ERA has dropped from 4.93 to 4.08. Wilson continues to be a better than expected Fantasy option in 2008 and worth starting in most formats. (CBS Sports)

Teixeira Launches Number 22 into Batter’s Eye
Mark Teixeira, whose grand slam last Sunday at Yankee Stadium was wasted in a 14-9 loss, hit a first-pitch fastball Saturday against Jose Veras way up the batter’s eye in center field. He went 2-for-5 with two strikeouts in the game. Teixeira has lived up to his potential since being traded over from Atlanta and has not dropped off at all. He’s at 22 homers and 86 RBI to go with a .286 batting average. Continue to start him through thick and thin. (CBS Sports)
