Theriot Among League Leaders in Multi-hit Games
Ryan Theriot went 2-for-5 Wednesday and has hit safely in his last six home games. Theriot has 34 multi-hit games, which puts him among the NL leaders. Theriot is a slap-hitting basestealer worth consider in all Rotisserie leagues. He lacks power and run-production potential, though, which makes him a lower-tier option in Head-to-Head points leagues. (CBS Sports)

Maine to Start Thursday Despite Strained Forearm
John Maine pledged to make his next start on Thursday but told the NY Daily News that he now believes he suffered a strain and not a cramp in his left forearm during Saturday’s outing against the Phillies. Maine tossed a bullpen session Monday and said that “as of now” he is still starting against the Giants because he was able to maintain his normal delivery. Maine added that he hopes to be placed towards the back end of the rotation following the All-Star break to give him a few more days to heal. However, pitching coach Dan Warthen said that for now that’s not a consideration, and that he’s planning for the rotation to pick up in its normal order, beginning with Johan Santana in Cincinnati on July 17. Chipper Jones Now 0-for-10, Dow drops 256 Points . . .
Chipper Jones was 0-for-3 Wednesday at Los Angeles, and he is hitless in his last 10 at-bats to see his average dip to .375. Well he wasn’t going to hit .400 all year, after all. Despite his mini slump, which serves as a bit of a market correction for his ridiculous hitting in the first half, he deserves to remain active in all leagues through thick and thin — as long as he’s healthy. Iannetta Knocks in Run with Triple – Keeps Starting
Chris Iannetta started on Wednesday for the 21st time in Colorado’s last 33 games. He continues to build his advantage over veteran Yorvit Torrealba, who might be traded later this month. Iannetta tripled and knocked in a run for his third extra-base hit and seventh RBI in his last four games. (Rotowire)

Spilborghs to Miss a Month with Oblique Injury
Ryan Spilborghs (left oblique), who officially went on the 15-Day DL Wednesday, is likely to miss a month, according to the Denver Post. He was on a hot streak and was playing frequently, but his season is now taking an unfortunate detour. Scott Podsednik takes over as Colorado’s fourth outfielder. (Rotowire)
BP’s Will Carroll has more:
Spilborghs has gone from taking the center field job outright to hitting the DL overnight, leaving the Rockies struggling to fill the position while Willy Taveras deals with a quad injury. Spilborghs’ oblique injury is just one of those things that happens, though this is the first oblique strain I can remember occurring on the basepaths. Watching the video, it does look like Spilborgh described it, that he “got shot” somewhere between first and second, which makes me think that this was the point in time where the muscle finally tore, rather than the cause itself. He’ll miss roughly a month, though with oblique strains it’s hard to tell exactly, and they do tend to recur if players aren’t careful. The timing is bad for Spilborghs, who may have lost his chance to lock down the job.

Andruw Jones Quietly Approaches Ten RBIs
Andruw Jones, who has driven in at least 90 runs in each of the past eight seasons, singled home Angel Berroa with one out in the seventh inning Wednesday night, giving him nine RBI for the year. Jones is now 4-for-19 with two RBI, a walk and five strikeouts in six games since returning from a five-week stint on the disabled list Friday. The one-time superstar who has fallen as rapidly as he rose to stardom. He still has some power potential, but he looks finished as a hitter. He’s probably not worth your time in standard mixed leagues. (CBS Sports)
