Maine Leaves Early with Forearm Cramp

John Maine left his start Saturday in the sixth inning with a left forearm cramp. There’s a good chance he’ll make his next start. Maine gave up three runs on one hit — a Ryan Howard homer — in 5 2/3 innings before leaving. He was at 104 pitches, so it’s doubtful that he would have pitched the seventh anyway. (Rotoworld)

Webb to Start All-Star Game?

The New York Post has learned that Brandon Webb will start the All-Star Game for the NL. Voted in as starters were C Geovany Soto, 1B Lance Berkman, 2B Chase Utley, 3B Chipper Jones, SS Hanley Ramirez, OF Alfonso Soriano, OF Kosuke Fukudome and OF Ryan Braun. Webb is something of a surprising choice to start given his recent struggles, but he’s still as deserving of the honor as anyone. Also likely considered were Edinson Volquez, Ben Sheets and Tim Lincecum. (Rotoworld)

Iannetta Homers in Back-to-Back Games

Rockies C Chris Iannetta smacked his ninth homer of the season Saturday in a 12-6 win over the Marlins. He now has homers in back-to-back games. Iannetta splits starts with Yorvit Torralba behind the plate in Colorado, but he has shown plenty of potential in his limited at-bats. His starting value clearly lies mostly in NL-only formats right now, but he’s worth having on your bench in deeper mixed leagues in case he earns himself a full-time job. (CBS Sports)

Wilson Goes Long for 24th Save

Giants closer Brian Wilson got four outs for his 24th save in 26 chances — including 15 in a row — Saturday against the Dodgers. He allowed neither a hit nor a walk. Wilson has a good save total and percentage, but he can’t seem to get his ERA below 4.00. Still, with 24 saves this season, continue to think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy closer. (CBS Sports)

Fielder Notches Back-to-Back Two-Hit Nights

Prince Fielder singled in Rickie Weeks with one out in the bottom of the ninth and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 on Saturday night for their second straight win. Fielder went 2-for-4 on the night, and the RBI was his 45th. Fielder now has back-to-back two-hit nights with an RBI in each. Despite his recent struggles, Fielder remains a must-start 1B in all formats simply because of his power potential. Like most sluggers, he is prone to streaky play now and again. (CBS Sports)

Webb Moving Up in Rotation Prior to All-Star Break

Brandon Webb will make his next scheduled start on Tuesday in order to get two more turns before the All-Star break, the East Valley Tribune reports. He’s also expected to start for the NL All-Stars on July 15, but owners in weekly leagues should be particularly happy about manager Bob Melvin’s scheduling decision. (Rotowire)
