Wellemeyer Torched, Scorched, Damaged Goods?
Todd Wellemeyer was torched for eight runs in 3 1/3 innings by the Phillies on Friday. Maybe the Cardinals should have placed him on the disabled list. Wellemeyer, who missed his last start with a sore elbow, struggled to throw strikes and was hit hard when he did tonight. Mixed leaguers should bench him until it’s clear that his arm is sound. It wasn’t too far back that Wellemeyer was named NL Pitcher of the Month for May. With a missed start and Friday’s shelling, it seems those accolades were many moons ago. Wellemeyer appears to be a bit of an injury-risk start as he battles elbow woes. When healthy, he has proven to be a viable Fantasy option. (Rotoworld, CBS Sports)

Jones Gives Himself Black Eye in Freak BP Accident
Chipper Jones was scratched from Friday’s lineup after suffering an eye injury in an accident during batting practice. Jones fouled off a pitch, and the ball ricocheted off the crossbar at the top of the batting cage and struck him near the left eye. He’s believed to be day-to-day with a contusion. (Rotoworld)

Blanco Not Adding Much to the Bottom Line
Gregor Blanco had three singles and three RBI in Atlanta’s win on Friday. Most of Blanco’s offense lately has come in the form of walks, as his average had dropped from .361 at the end of April to .245 going into tonight. He went without an RBI in 15 straight games before tonight. He’s playing regularly, but he doesn’t have a lot of fantasy value. (Rotoworld)

Ruiz Nabs Career-High Four Hits in Phillies Onslaught
Carlos Ruiz went 4-for-6 with two doubles and four RBI in Friday’s rout of the Cardinals. Everyone hit for the Phillies tonight, so this probably won’t make a big difference as Ruiz tries to regain some of the at-bats he’s lost to Chris Coste. He raised his average from .217 to .235. (Rotoworld)

Reyes Warming Up – 24 Steals Now
Mets SS Jose Reyes had two singles and scored twice in four at-bats Friday against the Rangers. He also had his 24th stolen base. Reyes is 8-for-24 (.333) with three stolen bases during a five-game hitting streak. He has failed to hit in just two games since May 15. Reyes has been something else at the plate since mid-May. He was struggling for consistency through the first month and a half of the season, but he has since found his groove at the plate. Continue to start the Rotisserie threat in all Fantasy formats.
