Villanueva Rocked Again - Gives up 2 HR, 7 Earned
Carlos Villanueva surrendered seven runs on 10 hits over five innings in a loss to the Marlins Thursday night. Another rocky outing for the inconsistent Milwaukee right-hander. Villanueva allowed a pair of home runs tonight, and has now given up 10 in 40 innings this season. “I didn’t feel bad,” he said after allowing 10 hits and two walks and recording six strikeouts. “I don’t think I should look at the scoreboard tonight and watch me give up seven runs. I don’t feel like I pitched that way. But that’s the way it’s going right now.” Villanueva has maintained a decent strikeout rate throughout his struggles, but the fact is he’s allowed 13 earned runs in his last 10 innings pitched. He’s worth holding on to in NL-only leagues, but he doesn’t deserve to start in any leagues right now and might ultimately pitch his way out of the rotation. His next start is scheduled for Tuesday against the Dodgers, making him a two-start pitcher for Fantasy Week 7 (May 12-18). (Rotoworld, CBS Sports)
