Hatteberg Would Welcome Trade

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Scott Hatteberg “would welcome a trade” after losing his starting job to Joey Votto. Hatteberg is 0-for-7 as a pinch-hitter and said that his patient approach at the plate makes him ill suited for the job. Hatteberg said he is not demanding, or even asking, for a trade, but would like the opportunity to start. He said that pinch-hitting isn’t “conducive” to his style of hitting, and the numbers back that statement up, he has hit .164 as a pinch-hitter over his career. General manager Walt Jocketty said Sunday that he hasn’t talked to any teams about Hatteberg. (Rotoworld, Rotowire)

Victorino Completes Rehab Assignment - To Start Tuesday

Shane Victorino (calf) went 2-for-4 in his final rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday and is expected to be activated from the DL before Philadelphia’s game on Tuesday against San Diego, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Victorino is expected to start on Tuesday, although nothing is set in stone with the great job Jayson Werth has done subbing for him in center field. Victorino played right field last season, and a scenario where he moves back to right in place of the struggling Geoff Jenkins with Werth remaining in center is not out of the question. Be sure to monitor how manager Charlie Manuel deals with Philadelphia’s outfield situation in Victorino’s first few games back. (Rotowire)

Chipper Jones Hopes to Return Tuesday

Chipper Jones (back) is hopeful that he’ll play Tuesday versus the Nationals. Ideally, the Braves would get Yunel Escobar (finger) back on the same day. Neither felt up to making an appearance in the loss to the Mets today. (Rotoworld)

Phillips Heating Up - Launches Two

Brandon Phillips homered twice and drove in three runs in a 10-1 blow out of the Giants on Sunday. Phillips hit an RBI single in the first, then added solo homers in the seventh and ninth. He’s living up to his lofty draft day price so far with a .280 average, five homers, and four steals. Since getting the night off from the starting lineup on Friday, he’s hit a pinch-hit homer that night, gone 2-for-6 on Saturday with a double, and then the two homers on Sunday. Perhaps the day off on Sunday for Adam Dunn could have the same effect. Phillips is heating up right now, batting .500 (6-for-12) over that three-game stretch to raise his season average to .280. He tends to be a streaky player, but one of the few who offers 30-30 potential to the second base position. Keep him active in all Fantasy formats. (Rotoworld, Rotowire, CBS Sports)

Webb First To Six Victories - This is Getting Redundant

Brandon Webb became the first pitcher to reach six wins this season by holding the Padres to just an unearned run in six innings of work on Sunday. Webb gave up five hits and walked four, but he also struck out five and induced 10 ground ball outs. Juan Cruz, Tony Pena, and Brandon Lyon then each threw a scoreless inning to protect a 2-1 lead. Andruw Jones Stinks It Up Again - 3 K’s, 4 LOB

Andrew Jones was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and four men left on base on Sunday against Colorado. At least the bruised calf is fine, though the team would be better off if Jones needed a DL stint. Mired in a 3-for-27 slump, Jones is down to .159 with 29 strikeouts in 82 at-bats. We could start seeing more Pierre/Kemp/Ethier outfields in the near future. (Rotowire)

Figueroa Gets Victory over Braves

Nelson Figueroa limited the Braves to three runs in 5 1/3 innings on Sunday to pick up a victory. Figueroa had gone five innings without allowing a run, but three singles and a double scored two runs and chased him from the game in the sixth. A third run scored after he had departed. He’s yet to give up more than three runs in any of his four big league starts this season. (Rotoworld)

Myers Takes Loss, Gives Up 2 More Homers

Brett Myers took a loss against the Pirates after allowing four runs in five innings of work on Sunday. Myers struck out five and walked just one, but he did allow a pair of home runs to Nate McLouth that supplied three of the four runs. Myers has always had issues with the long ball, but his 10 homers allowed in six starts is even worse than normal. It’s a trend that should reverse in short order. (Rotoworld)
