Chipper Leads World in Batting Average
Chipper Jones went 4-for-4 with two homers, a double, three RBI and a walk Thursday against the Marlins. It could have been a truly monster game if he had some runners on ahead of him. He had an RBI double in the first and a homer in the third, and with two out in the fifth, Jones, Mark Teixeira and Brian McCann hit consecutive home runs in a span of 12 pitches. Jones raised his average to a cool .443 (27-for-61) and has at least one hit in 14 of 15 starts. He figured to be in for something of a decline after turning in one of the very best seasons of his career at age 35 last year, but he’s been as good as ever so far. (Rotoworld)
