Wilson Botches It Again
Giants RP Brian Wilson entered Tuesday’s game against the Padres in the ninth inning with a 2-1 lead. It didn’t take him long to erase away the save opportunity. Josh Bard opened the inning with a walk and was replaced by pinch runner Colt Morton. Tony Clark then singled to left field which brought Morton to third base. Brian Giles then hit a deep fly ball to left field which was deep enough to plate Morton and square the game at 2. Tad Iguchi followed with a infield single before Wilson retired Adrian Gonzalez and Kevin Kouzmanoff. He is now 1-for-2 in save opportunities. Wilson worked back-to-back outings Monday and Tuesday. He didn’t look impressive either time. He allowed five hits and three runs in 1 2/3 innings. He needs to improve on his late-inning performances or he could be out of a closer’s job. For now, Wilson remains a No. 3 Fantasy closer since he pitches for a bad team. The Giants won’t make a change unless they absolutely have to, but if he does continute to struggle over the rest of the month, they might be forced to go to Tyler Walker. (CBS Sports, Rotoworld)
