Jeff Kent (wrist) will be activated from the disabled list for Tuesday’s game. Kent should immediately start at second. Eric Gagne is an option to be sent to the disabled list when Kent is activated.

Taylor Buchholz will likely be bumped from the rotation when Roger Clemens joins the Astros in nine days. Buchholz will start against Kansas City on Friday and will need a very impressive outing to avoid being taken out of the rotation. “I can’t worry about (being taken out of the rotation),” Buchholz said. I have to go out there and do my work and go out there and pitch.” Fernando Nieve is also an option to lose his spot in the rotation to Clemens.

Prince Fielder homered for the second straight game Monday against the Reds. Fielder had just one homer in 26 games before his solo shot on Sunday. His second in two days was his 11th overall. He also had a single in the game.

Adam Dunn went 2-for-4 and hit his fourth homer in seven games Monday against the Brewers. The homer was his 21st overall and eighth against a left-hander. He’s actually hitting southpaws better than right-handers this season, which is another reason manager Jerry Narron shouldn’t feel such a need to put an inferior hitter between him and Ken Griffey Jr.
