Overnight Dispatches
From Rotoworld:
Even though he’s feeling better now than he did after his first start, Kerry Wood will have his next start pushed back a day to Monday. “The recovery this time in between [starts] was much quicker than last time,” pitching coach Larry Rothschild said. It wasn’t announced who would start Sunday. Glendon Rusch and Triple-A Iowa’s Jae-Kuk Ryu look like the candidates to fill in as the fifth starter until Mark Prior comes off the DL.
Triple-A Tucson’s Stephen Drew went 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk on Thursday. Drew is cruising along at .317/.377/.519 in 183 at-bats. A Craig Counsell trade could make him the Diamondbacks’ starting shortstop for the final two or three months of the season.
Jose Reyes went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a double against the Phillies on Thursday. Reyes has four homers during May, but his OBP has been down. It’s not a trade off the Mets should be pleased with. For the season, Reyes is hitting .254/.317/.429 in 205 at-bats.
