Overnight Dispatches
From RotoWorld:
Kerry Wood (shoulder) will pitch in a rookie league game for the Mesa Cubs on Wednesday. This appearance should be limited to around 60-70 pitches. If it goes well his next outing could be lengthened to around 80 pitches. He remains on pace to be back in the majors by mid-May at the latest.
Brewers manager Ned Yost has Bill Hall starting over J.J. Hardy for the second time in three games tonight. Hardy, who struggled throughout the first half of 2005, is currently batting .256/.280/.397. The Brewers aren’t going to give Hall the starting job, but Hardy could sit two or three times per week until he starts producing.
Padres CF Dave Roberts was out of yesterday’s lineup due to swelling in his left knee. He is expected back Wednesday.
